Derek Sanderson Jeter was born at Chilton Hospital in New Jersey on June 26th, 1974, to parents Charles Jeter and Dorothy Connors. His family lived in New Jersey until Derek was four, when the family moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan. By the time he was enrolled in Kalamazoo Central High School, he was receiving recognition for his abilities. After graduation he was the first draft pick of the New York Yankees. In February 2022 Jeter stepped down from his post as chief executive officer of the Marlins after five years. He also announced he would no longer be a shareholder in the club. Jeter’s grandfather, William Connors, was he was adopted by John and Julia Tiedemann, who lived on an estate in New Jersey.
