Mark Gordon

Mark Gordon joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City's head office Board of Directors in 2009. He is a rancher, businessman and owner of Merlin Ranch in Buffalo, Wyoming. Mr. Gordon is also a partner in the 48 Ranch Partnership in Kaycee, Wyoming, a partner in Buffalo Movie Theater, LLC and an officer of Willow Park Reservoir Company. He has been a Holistic Resource Management practitioner since 1983, a board member of the Ucross Foundation, a trustee of the Wyoming chapter of the Nature Conservancy, a member of the Wyoming Nature Conservancy Big Horns Program Advisory Board, and a member of the Wyoming Water Development Commission Powder/Tongue Basin Advisory Group. Mr. Gordon is a former director of conservation and stewardship for Apache Corp. and chairman and member of the Wyoming Environmental Quality Council. He is a former board member of High Country News, the Wyoming Council for the Humanities, the Northern Wyoming Mental Health Center, Harold Jarrad Park and has served on the Board of Supervisors—Powder River Conservation District and the University of Wyoming College of Agriculture Sheridan Research and Extension Center Advisory Board. He has also served on the Johnson County School Improvement and Facilities committees. He is also the former owner and partner of "The Bookshop" in Sheridan, Wyoming, and Abercrombie and Kent's "On Safari Ltd." and "The Trading Company" catalogue firms. Mr. Gordon has been featured and quoted in several publications, including "Ahead of Their Time: Wyoming and Voices for Wilderness," as well as "Utne Reader," "New Farm," "Beef" and "Western Horseman" magazines. Mr. Gordon ran in the 2008 primary for Wyoming's at-large seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. He has a bachelor's degree in history from Middlebury College and has served as a soccer coach and referee.
