Milton L Cofield

Milton L. Cofield was elected to a five-year term as the Regent for the Seventh Judicial District on April 1, 2002 and reelected to a second five-year term through March 31, 2012. He was elected Vice Chancellor by his colleagues effective April 1, 2009 and re-elected to a three year term effective April 1, 2010. Vice Chancellor Cofield was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana and educated in the public school system there. He graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with a B.S. degree in Chemistry, magna cum laude, in 1973. He attended graduate school at the University of Illinois and received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry in 1979. He moved to Rochester, New York and began his career as a physical scientist in the research laboratories of the Eastman Kodak Company in 1979. In 1989, he was awarded the M.B.A. degree in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School. In 1991, he was appointed assistant to the President of SUNY College at Brockport, New York and also served as Executive Director of the Rochester Educational Opportunity Center. In 1996, Vice Chancellor Cofield was named the James E. McGhee Distinguished Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology. In 2000, he was appointed Fulbright Senior Scholar in the Graduate Institute of Technology and Innovation Management at National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan and also Fulbright American Studies Professor at De LaSalle University at Manila in the Phillippines. Vice Chancellor Cofield's professional interests include management of technology and innovation, higher education administration, and international management and education. Vice Chancellor Cofield is currently Executive Director for Undergraduate Business Administration in the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.
