Barbara Ferraro

Barbara Ferraro is a veteran member of the Rancho Palos Verdes City Council, elected most recently in 2019 after previously serving from 1995–2003, making her one of the city’s most experienced local decision-makers. She has twice served as Mayor (1998, 2023) and multiple times as Mayor Pro-Tem, placing her repeatedly in agenda-setting and leadership roles within the council–manager system. Having lived in Rancho Palos Verdes since 1976, Ferraro represents long-standing residential continuity in a city shaped by restrictive zoning, land-use controls, and preservation politics. Her parallel career as a Spanish teacher with Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District since 2000 also ties her civic influence to one of the city’s most powerful public institutions, linking education governance, community norms, and local political leadership.
