Daniel L Glaser

Daniel Glaser is the Treasury Department’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes. In this role he functions as the primary Treasury official for the development and coordination of international anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing policy. He is a key official in developing and implementing strategies to disrupt and dismantle money laundering and terrorist financing networks worldwide, and has led the Treasury effort to identify and secure the U.S. financial system from foreign money laundering and terrorist financing threats. Mr. Glaser also plays a leading role in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing internationally. He serves as the head of the U.S. delegation to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) – the premier international body in the fight against money laundering. In that role, he is Co-Chairman of the FATF Working Group on Terrorist Financing, and has previously served as Chairman of the Americas Review Group within the FATF Non-Cooperative Countries and Territories Process. Mr. Glaser has also addressed terrorist financing issues with an array of other international bodies, including the G-7, the International Monetary Fund, and World Bank, and has served as the lead Treasury negotiator of the money laundering provisions in the U.N. Transnational Organized Crime Convention. Mr. Glaser previously served as the first Director of Executive Office of Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes, which was established in March 2003, and prior to that as the Director of the Money Laundering and Financial Crimes Section within Treasury’s Office of Enforcement. Mr. Glaser has also served as Senior Counsel for Financial Crimes in the Treasury Department Office of the General Counsel, and prior to that as an attorney in the U.S. Secret Service Office of the Chief Counsel. Mr. Glaser is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the Columbia University School of Law, and began his career as an associate in the law firm of Coudert Brothers.
