Barry Haimes

Barry G. Haimes is the Managing Partner of Sage Asset Management and a Senior Portfolio Manager of Sage Opportunity Fund. His professional experience spans two decades and incorporates positions in research (both buy side and sell side), portfolio management, and investment banking. Prior to forming Sage Asset Management, Mr. Haimes spent six years as a Senior Portfolio Manager at Dietche & Field Advisers, a $4.5 billion pension fund manager. As one of a group of five senior investment professionals, Mr. Haimes selected and monitored one-third to one-half of the portfolio names. The assets under management grew from $450 million to $4.5 billion during his six-year tenure. Previously, Mr. Haimes spent five years in the Mergers & Acquisitions field, principally with Shearson Lehman Bros. and Prudential-Bache. His experience in M&A was preceded by three years as the Machinery/Capital Goods analyst at Kidder Peabody, culminating in his selection to the Institutional Investor magazine All-America Research Team in 1985. Prior to Kidder, Mr. Haimes served for three years as a research analyst at Wells Fargo Investment Advisors, and three years as an analyst in the trust department of Hubachek, Kelly, Rauch & Kirby. Mr. Haimes received a Masters degree in Business Administration from The University of Chicago in 1979 (major in Finance/minor in Accounting), and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamilton College in 1975 (double major in Economics and Philosophy). He received the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1982, and is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts and the Association for Investment Management and Research.
