Bulgarian economist and former CEO of the World Bank Georgieva has been the managing director of the International Monetary Fund since October 2019. Georgieva was previously the Interim President for the World Bank Group and was responsible for the organizations efforts to end extreme poverty by 2030. In December 2019, Georgieva spearheaded a new three-year loan program with Ukraine worth $5.5 billion. Among her main focuses are the climate crisis and its link to financial stability as well as the rising debt levels in Africa.
