Jim Beall founded Ball Janik LLP's Washington, D.C., office when he joined the firm in 1988, and he serves as its managing partner. Dividing his time between the East and West Coasts, Mr. Beall provides federal regulatory and legislative representation to the firm's clients, with a heavy focus on issues relating to international trade, natural resources, taxation, and transportation. Mr. Beall has practiced in Washington, D.C., since 1976. He has served as a natural resources attorney for the U.S. Department of the Interior, as Legislative Director for Representative Al Ullman, and on the professional staff of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means. Mr. Beall has been in private practice since 1981. A graduate of Oregon State University (B.A. 1972), Mr. Beall earned his J.D. degree from the University of Oregon School of Law in 1976, where he was an editor of the Oregon Law Review, and an LL.M. degree in taxation from Georgetown Law Center in 1981.
