Zachary W. Paulsen advises multinational corporations, U.S. trade associations and foreign governments on public policy matters before the administration, executive branch agencies and the U.S. Congress, including international business and policy matters, taxation, international trade agreements and negotiations, import and export matters, health care and government investigations. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Paulsen was an international trade advisor at a Washington, D.C. law firm, where he assisted clients on trade and tax policies and developed proposals with respect to trade and investment agreements abroad. From 2002 to 2005, Mr. Paulsen served as an international trade assistant for policy for the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance, where he aided then-Chairman Charles E. Grassley, R-Iowa, on issues before the committee and was integral in the passage of the Miscellaneous Trade and Technical Corrections Act of 2004, as well as U.S. free trade agreements with Australia, Morocco, Chile, Singapore, the Dominican Republic and Central American nations. Other legislative initiatives in which he was involved include the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004, the Clean Diamonds Trade Act and the African Growth and Opportunity Acceleration Act. Mr. Paulsen earned his B.A. in political science and journalism and mass communication from the University of Iowa.
