Moses Gates

Moses Gates is RPA’s director of community planning and design, leading the organization’s planning, research and advocacy efforts in affordable housing, economic development, and community engagement & design. He works with RPA staff to make sure that a community and neighborhood focus is present throughout the organization’s regional efforts. Prior to joining RPA, Moses was director of planning and community development for ANHD, a New York City policy and advocacy nonprofit, where he oversaw the organization’s housing development policy and planning work, and initiated ANHD’s Community Development Fellowship program. Moses also has worked for New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, as a nonprofit affordable housing developer, and as a licensed New York City tour guide. Moses is currently a visiting assistant professor at the Pratt Institute, where he also serves as an advisor for students pursuing careers in community planning, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
