Gorman gained substantial experience while working as the chief-of-staff to then Mayor Michael Capuano of Somerville in the 1990s. Since the Congressman was elected to replace Joe Kennedy in 1998 in the 8th Congressional District, Gorman has been responsible for the Congressman's interests on state issues for the past nine years, and a principal advisor to the Congressman on his federal agenda. In addition to Gorman’s significant work with Congressman Capuano, he has been involved with the following political campaigns: President Bill Clinton (1992), Senator John Kerry (1994), Presidential campaign for John Kerry (2004), and Deval Patrick’s gubernatorial campaign (2006) and election. Given that Congressman Capuano was one of the first members of the Congressional delegation to endorse then candidate Deval Patrick in early 2006, Gorman played an instrumental role in the Governor’s campaign and also on the Patrick transition team.
