Jane Meriwether Dabney of Albemarle County, Virginia was the daughter of Elizabeth Thorton and Thomas Meriwether. She was an aunt of Meriwether Lewis, who in conjunction with Colonel Clark, conducted their celebrated expedition. Miss Meriwether married Samuel Dabney on February 4, 1775, and their union produced thirteen children. They resided by Cub Creek in Louisa County, Virginia.
