Mr. Sutter has been an active investor in private equity for more than 20 years. After starting his career in corporate finance with Smith Barney, he joined Mesirow Financial in 1984 as the second member of its Private Equity Investments division. As Senior Managing Director, Mr. Sutter was responsible for all aspects of private equity activity, including deal flow development, investment analysis, due diligence investigation, transaction structure and negotiation, and portfolio management. During his tenure, Mesirow's investment capital grew from $20 million to more than $300 million, comprised of seven limited partnership funds. He led investments totaling over $100 million in more than 25 portfolio companies, including four that completed an IPO. He continues to serve as an independent director on the board of Regent Communications, a publicly-traded radio broadcaster. Mr. Sutter graduated cum laude from Yale University with a Bachelor’s in economics and earned his MBA from Stanford University. Since 2001, he has served as an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, teaching courses in private equity and entrepreneurship.
