Mr. Krehbiel, 37, is the son of Fred Krehbiel, the Molex Inc. co-chairman whose grandfather founded the electronic-connector company, one of the largest in the world. The younger Mr. Krehbiel made a conscious decision to carve out his own career path away from the family business. He left that to his younger brother, Jay Krehbiel, who is business development director at Molex. Liam Krehbiel earned an MBA at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and worked in the finance and consulting worlds before zeroing in full time on nonprofit work. Today, he and A Better Chicago's five employees have staked out desks at 1871, an office-sharing space for digital hipsters in the Merchandise Mart. “We're not tech but we do use computers,” he jokes. “I like the energy. It fits with what we do.”
