Tim Hynes

Tim Hynes is chief risk officer for Navient and is responsible for maintaining and fostering a culture of compliance and accountability in the company’s operations, ensuring that Navient maintains sound credit, market, compliance, and operational performance. Previously, Tim served as senior vice president for Sallie Mae. In this capacity, he led federal and private student loan default prevention programs and asset recovery services on behalf of institutional and government clients. He also played a leadership role in creating a private education loan program that helps students minimize borrowing costs and graduate with less debt. Before joining Sallie Mae in 2008, Tim served in a variety of consumer finance lending and credit management roles for MBNA America and Bank of America, both in the United States and abroad. Tim has a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and marketing from the University of Richmond.
