Riley is a native Kansan and a founding partner of Parallel Strategies with George Stafford and David Kensinger. In addition to Parallel Strategies, Riley is the sole proprietor of Scott Consulting, LLC, which is a full service public affairs firm that represents both business and nonprofit organizations in all aspects of lobbying, administrative relations, and strategic communication. After graduating from Kansas State University with a degree in Agriculture and a minor in Leadership Studies, Riley moved to Washington, D.C. to begin his career in the office of U.S. Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS). Working as a legislative staffer, Riley handled several issues for Senator Brownback, including agriculture, energy, banking, and appropriations. At the time of Senator Brownback’s retirement from the Senate, Riley was his Deputy Chief of Staff and served as a senior policy and political advisor, including fundraising and advising Senator Brownback on his successful gubernatorial run in 2010. Upon Senator Brownback’s retirement, Riley began working for U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS) as his Deputy Chief of Staff and State Director. After helping Senator Moran set up his Washington office for the first six months of his term, Riley moved back to Kansas to manage Senator Moran’s five offices across the state. Riley continued his focus on Senator Moran’s political activities, including fundraising and management of his political action committee (PAC). While in Washington, Riley earned his Master of Arts in Government degree with a concentration in Political Communication from The Johns Hopkins University. Riley lives in Lawrence with his wife, Julia, an emergency room physician, and their three children: Olivia, Benjamin, and Elliana.
