O'Sullivan has been a business consultant since 2017. Prior to that, she served as principal deputy director of the Offfice of National Intelligence (PPDNI). Earlier, she was associate deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and held several management position in the agency's directorate of science and technology. She currently serves on the boards of The Aerospace Corporation, Battelle Memorial Institute, HRL Laboratories (formerly Hughes Research Laboratories) and the CIA Officers Memorial Foundation. O'Sullivan was sworn in as the Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence (PDDNI) on February 28, 2011. As PDDNI, Ms. O'Sullivan serves in a role similar to that of a Chief Operating Officer where she focuses on the operations of the ODNI, and manages Intelligence Community (IC) coordination and information sharing. Before this assignment she served as the Associate Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) since December 2009, where she worked with the Director and Deputy Director in the overall leadership of the Agency. Prior to becoming Associate Deputy Director of the CIA, Ms. O'Sullivan for four years led the CIA's Directorate of Science and Technology (DS&T) - the part of the Agency responsible for developing and deploying innovative technology in support of intelligence collection and analysis. Earlier in her career, she held various management positions in the CIA's DS&T, where her responsibilities included systems acquisition and research and development in fields ranging from power sources to biotechnology. Ms. O'Sullivan joined the CIA in 1995 after working for the Office of Naval Intelligence and TRW. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the Missouri Science and Technology University.
