William Rutledge

Prior to joining Promontory, Bill was most recently Executive Vice President for Bank Supervision at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. During his 11 years in that role, he was responsible for supervision of all bank holding companies, state-chartered member banks, and foreign bank offices located in the Second District. In addition, he served for three years as Chairman of the Senior Supervisors Group, an international coordinating body on financial risk management, which provides analysis of the market practices of major internationally active financial firms. He also served for five years as a member of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, was a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Management Committee, and was a member of the Federal Reserve System's Supervision Committee. He joined the New York Federal Reserve Bank in 1974 as an Economist in the Banking Studies Department and went on to become Chief in the Domestic Banking Applications area. He was appointed an officer with the title of Manager and moved through the management ranks with promotions to Assistant Vice President, Vice President, and Senior Vice President.
