Inspired by the vision of the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and nine participating states, the Shared Learning Collaborative (SLC) is an alliance of states, districts, educators, foundations, and content and tool providers who are passionate about using technology to improve education. The SLC aims to accelerate the progress of U.S. public schools toward personalized learning by creating a set of shared technology services that will help existing and future instructional technology investments in states, districts and schools work better together. This open source technology is designed to support the implementation of the Common Core State Standards and allow states and districts to integrate student data that currently exists in different source systems and formats and make it available to content and applications from many providers via an applications program interface (API), reducing provisioning costs and thereby freeing up resources for great new personalized learning.
