Computers For Success Nunavut

About Computers for Schools (CFS) was co-founded in 1993 by Industry Canada and the TelecomPioneers of Canada. It is a national program that refurbishes and delivers technology, at little or no cost, from government organizations. Computers for Success Nunavut (CFSN) is administered by Pinnguaq Association with support from the entire CFS network across Canada – as well as Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Canada and Computers for Success Canada (CFSC). CFSN works to make computers available to any Nunavummiut or Nunavut-based organizations that require them, with a special focus on combining the work of the CFSN program with the work of Pinnguaq’s programming currently being developed in the territory. Our Initiative CFSN is administered by the not-for-profit organization Pinnguaq Association. Pinnguaq, which means “play in Inuktitut, incorporates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) into unique learning applications that promote storytelling, health, wellness and growth with rural and remote communities. At its core, Pinnguaq embraces diversity and creates opportunities in order to empower all people. Pinnguaq’s education programming offers learning opportunities to Nunavummiut through a Nunavut-designed curriculum. CFSN aims to provide participants of Pinnguaq’s programs with a computer they can take home, using the knowledge they gained and the software on the computer to continue learning. Partnerships The CFS program refurbishes and delivers technology and training donated by government organizations, private businesses and individuals. The program works in support of digital inclusion and economic participation by youth, seniors, low-income Canadians, new Canadians, Indigenous peoples, and other eligible beneficiaries. Since 1993, the CFS program has delivered more than 1.5 million computers at little or no cost. CFSC is a national non-profit organization established in 2005, focusing its services on ISED’s CFS program and the impacts of digital inclusion and economic participation.
