Jones and Wendell Cherry established The Humana Foundation in 1981 as the philanthropic arm of the company. Their long-standing commitment to Humana’s philanthropy over the years resulted in transformational changes, especially in the areas of education, healthcare and the arts. Today, Humana’s leadership is equally committed to collaborating and investing in scalable and innovative models that demonstrably enhance the health and well-being of communities throughout the country. Since 1975, Humana and The Humana Foundation’s support of community partners has exceeded $300 million. In 2018, the Foundation invested more than $14.5 million in communities across the United States. In 2019, the Foundation invested more than $12.4 million in more than 30 organizations nationwide.
