Founded in 1985, the Centre for Marine Science and Technology (CMST) comprises a multi-skilled group of scientists and engineers committed to the development of technical ocean-related skills in Australia. The Centre has earned a reputation as a high-quality marine technology research and development facility responsive to industry and government needs. CMST has expertise in marine soundscapes, underwater acoustic modelling, marine habitat mapping, bioacoustics, the impact of sound on the marine environment and stereoscopic imaging. The centre works in close cooperation with other areas in Curtin including Physics and Astronomy, Ecology, Geology, Subsea Engineering, Spatial Science, and the Remote Sensing and Satellite Group.
