We create pathways to college graduation We offer a pathway to college graduation for hard-working, low-income students of color by providing access to transformative educational opportunities. Our scholars engage in a proven, 12-year model that brings together the academic preparation, leadership development and personalized support they need to graduate from a four-year college and become career professionals and leaders in our community. Who we are Educators with passion. Administrators with expertise. Students with an unquenchable desire to succeed. From our scholars to our board of trustees, Rainier Scholars is a community of energetic people who are passionate about the power of education and the immeasurable value of opportunity. Meet our staff We address inequities Few of Seattle’s low-income students of color get the education and mentoring they need to gain admission to college and become leaders as adults. The disproportionately low numbers of low-income students of color on college campuses, as well as the lack of men and women of color in positions of leadership nationwide, point back to a lack of equitable opportunities at a foundational level. We believe a college degree greatly increases an individual’s chance at economic self-sufficiency, not to mention the inter-generational impact which results once that educational barrier has been broken in a family. That is why we created Rainier Scholars. Meet our scholars Our strategic vision We developed Vision 2020, our strategic plan, after a lengthy strategic planning process resulting in the enthusiastic reaffirmation of our mission, vision and program, as well as identifying several new initiatives focused on program development and ongoing improvement in all aspects of our work. Our goal is to ensure our community reaps the benefits of a greater number of under-represented students graduating from college and emerging as leaders in career and community for generations to come.
