NELSON GONZALEZ Nelson Gonzalez is CEO of Liminal, a global social impact innovation firm that created Whole Child Lab, an accelerator, fund, and corporate innovation platform integrating healthcare and education for product, service, and business model innovation in birth-18 whole child development. Liminal also created Agile Labs, which applies Improvement Science/Agile development methods in learning spaces. Liminal has been retained by Teach for America to design its Innovation Lab and by several private equity firms for education M&A initiatives. He is also on the faculty of the Education Entrepreneurship Program/Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. Gonzalez was one of two co-founders of Declara, a venture-backed adaptive social learning platform that accelerates informal adult learning through personalized content delivery using cutting-edge machine learning. In just four years, Gonzalez led Declara’s four-continent public education system and Fortune500 growth, which resulted in a $40m series-A and recent sale of the company. He also served as Chief Strategy Officer of the Stupski Foundation, where he created a multi-state innovation lab to scale personalized learning that became a policy-shaping reference for the Obama Administration. as well as Advisor to the former Colombian President Manuel Santos on national IT innovation and poverty reduction strategies. He was in the PhD program at the London School of Economics, was tutored at Oxford in philosophy and theology, and graduated from Amherst magna cum laude in Political Science. He has been a Fellow at Columbia, NYU, and Leuven. A native Colombian, first-generation immigrant, first-generation college graduate, and English language learner, he is fluent in Spanish and French.
