PhillyBOOST was a coordinating entity that provided a data system for Philadelphia Out-of-School Time (OST) programs funded and managed by the Department of Human Services, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and the Free Library of Philadelphia. With support from The Wallace Foundation, the William Penn Foundation, the United Way of Greater Philadelphia & South New Jersey and Mayor Michael A. Nutter, the City embarked on a 3-year project to “Build an OST System of Systems." Philadelphia's project was one of nine cities funded by The Wallace Foundation’s Next Generation OST Initiative. After the Wallace Foundation grant reached its end, the organization was re-branded the "Philadelphia Citywide Out-of-School Time Initiative" in Spring of 2017, with funding coming from the Department of Human Services and Managing Director's Office.
