Launched in 1982, Windham Professionals initially provided debt collection services to colleges and universities. In 1995, the company bought out Trac Associates and began engaging in commercial collections. In 2005, the company once again expanded – this time into healthcare collections – when it purchased Highland, Cross and Associates. Windham Professionals has five offices: Woburn, MA; East Aurora, NY; Hendersonville, TN; Las Vegas, NV; and Salem, NH. Windham Professionals’ student loan collection program is a primary focus. The debt collection agency collects on credit-based student loans (known as alternative loans), guaranteed student loans (employing FFELP consolidations, William D. Ford Direct Loan Consolidations, and wage garnishment), Health Profession Student Loans, Nursing Student Loans, Perkins Loans, and Student Accounts Receivable (STAR) loans. In the healthcare arena, Windham Professionals employs a variety of technologies to track people down, including electronic skip tracing, a centralized address matching system, a predictive dialer, and a national bankruptcy database. The debt collection agency is also a Government Services Administration (GSA) contractor.
