Principals: Gary Franchi (treasurer): Web-TV host and director of Restore the Republic, an online clearinghouse and social media site for Ron Paul followers. Lawrence W. Lepard (advisory board member): Venture capital investor at Equity Management Associates. Penny Langford Freeman (advisory board member): Paul’s former political director. Profile: One of three Ron Paul-alligned super PACs active during the 2012 GOP presidential primary, Revolution PAC shared a number of donors with Endorse Liberty, its larger cousin, including technology mogul and investor Peter Thiel. The Illinois-based super PAC made a name with Ron Paul action figures and bumper stickers that mash up the word revolution to reveal “love” spelled backward. Their website says Paul is offering a third option to the left’s “soft socialism” and the right’s “centralized, big-spending warfare state.” Revolution board members hosted a live webcast during the South Carolina primary that drew 20,000 viewers. The PAC hosted another for the Florida primary. Despite these attention grabbing moves, the super PAC did not have a major impact on the election, and their preferred candidate lost the Republican party’s nomination contest to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. See more data on Revolution at OpenSecrets.org. Advertisements: One of Revolution’s ads featured a Gulf War Marine veteran and pointed out that Paul “receives more donations from active duty military than all other Republican candidates combined.” Last Updated: Jan. 15, 2013 https://publicintegrity.org/politics/pac-profile-revolution/
