Martin L Edelman

Martin L. Edelman is one of the Founders of the Jackie Robinson Foundation. A former attorney for Jackie Robinson, he is a tireless advocate for the Foundation and its mission. Mr. Edelman is one of only four people to have received JRF's Founders Award. A graduate of Princeton University in 1963 and Columbia Law School in 1966, Mr. Edelman has been a Partner with Paul Hastings, Janofsky and Walker (formerly Battle Fowler), a New York City based law firm, since 1972; in January 1994 he became an Of Counsel of the firm. Edelman is a Partner of Chartwell Hotels Associates, Chartwell Leisure Associates L.P., Chartwell Leisure Associates L.P. II, and of certain of their respective affiliates. Mr. Edelman serves as a Director of Avis Rent A Car, Inc., Capital Trust and Arcadia Trust. Mr. Edelman was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Avis Rent A Car, Inc. from December 1998 until November 1999. The father of three, Edelman resides in Rye, NY with his wife Nancy.
