Philip Palmer is Senior Vice President at Grubb & Ellis and joined the company in July, 1999. Prior to joining Grubb & Ellis, Phil was with Staubach Company in Tenant Representation and Investment Advisory Services. Phil was President of Palmer Publishing Company, a publisher serving the energy and environmental industries from 1985 through 1995. There he launched Energy Focus and Good Cents, two publications dealing with Green Building Practices and Sustainable Development in buildings. Palmer has worked extensively with EPA, EEl, BOMA, ARI, AGA and other trade associations on tenant and building environmental issues. Prior to his association with Palmer Publishing Company, Phil was a Real Estate Consultant and Appraiser with Shlaes & Company and in mortgage banking with Continental Illinois Mortgage. He is a member of the National Association of Realtors, U. S. Green Building Council and the Commercial Real Estate Organization (CREO). Phil is also a member of the G&E President's Council. Phil studied architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology, earned his bachelor's from Lake Forest College and did graduate work at Northwestern University.Through volunteer work over the past thirty years Palmer has cultivated relationships throughout Chicago's philanthropic and political communities and contributed significantly to many organizations and candidates. He is an active member of the Board of Center on Halsted, the Chicago Sister Cities International Committee and served on the Auxiliary Board of Directors of the Chicago Architectural Foundation. He has also served on the national Board of Governors of the Human Rights Campaign, the Board of American Youth Hostels, and the Board of the Institute of Psychology at Illinois Institute of Technology and the Cook County Court Watchers Board of Directors.
