A leader for more than 20 years in the energy and telecommunications industries and a self-described corporate idealist, Karen believes that in today’s world business can be a force for sustainable and responsible practices, and a catalyst for collaboration. In partnering with their stakeholders, progressive companies are positioned to develop solutions for the future. She brings this conviction to her role as Enbridge’s human resources and public affairs lead, driving the company’s corporate social responsibility and community engagement vision. “Enbridge’s core values – integrity, safety and respect – are helping guide how we develop and secure a sustainable energy future, where we deliver the energy people need and want to fuel their quality of life,” says Radford. Karen recognizes the importance of community, both internal and external to Enbridge, and is dedicated to understanding and advocating for community needs. She is an active volunteer, and serves on the boards of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Western Financial Group, and the TELUS Calgary Community Board. Karen is also the President and Co-Founder of the Women's Leadership Foundation. Karen was named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40. She was inducted into the Women’s Executive Network Hall of Fame, voted Best Canadian Executive by the Stevie Awards for Women in Business, and named Woman of the Year by Canadian Women in Communications. Karen was also recognized by the YWCA Foundation as a Woman of Distinction for her community dedication in 2009. A biologist by training, Karen received a Masters of Business Administration from Dalhousie University in 1991 and a Bachelor of Science from Mount Allison University in 1989. She joined New Brunswick Tel in 1991. Seven years later, Karen went to work for TELUS and joined its executive team in 2004 and served as President of Partner Solutions and TELUS International, President of TELUS Quebec and, lastly, President of TELUS Business Solutions. Karen joined Enbridge in 2011.
