WARSOWE, Edna Of Chester, PA, Dec 14, 1913. Died in Washington, D.C., April 24, 2012. Edna was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in 1934 , Edna remained a loyal and active alumna of the University, serving as Parade Marshal in the commencement events of May 2009. She married Dr. Leo Koretsky in 1936 and moved to the Boston area. After Leo died she married Mr. David Warsowe and with him moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she lived until shortly after his death in 2000. She moved to Washington in 2003. Edna enoyed a varied professional career, beginning with her work as a book reviewer in the 1940s and 1950s. She entered local politics in the early 1960s, was elected for several terms to the Medford School Board, and remained a political and social activist for the rest of her life. She was director of the Boston School Volunteers and Coordinator of the Adult Literacy Program of the Council of Public Schools. She was very active in Common Cause, a citizens' lobby that worked with the federal government to enact legislation covering a range of issues. She served on the national board for several years and was President of the Florida chapter of that organization. Edna Warsowe was pre-deceased by husbands Leo Koretsky and David Warsowe, daughter Beatrice Bleicher and daughter-in-law Ruth Koretsky. She is survived by son Allen Koretsky, daughter Ilsa Koretsky Bush, sons-in-law Mike Bush and Sam Bleicher, and stepsons Robert, Carl and Mark Warsowe. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
