Chanel Edwards is a Dreamer from the Bedford-Stuyvesant Program in Brooklyn, New York, and is the first alumna to join the Board of Directors. She graduated from the "I Have A Dream" program in 1999, and through the assistance of the program was able to pursue her education at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. At Dartmouth, Chanel was President of the Pi Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, a participant in the University of Barcelona Language Study Abroad program and a recipient of the Dartmouth College Dean's Place. She graduated from Dartmouth in 2003 with honors, earning a bachelor's degree in Government. From 2003-2004 Chanel served as Board Member of the Bedford Stuyvesant "I Have a Dream" Alumni Association. Chanel subsequently received her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law where she was active in the Black Law Students Association and was Publication Editor for the Virginia Tax Review Association. Upon her graduation from law school, Chanel joined the law firm of Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP as a Tax Associate. She then became an International Tax Services Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, primarily working with hedge funds and private equity funds, for which she advised on the international tax aspects of investments around the world, including the potential tax impact of such investments under U.S. and non-U.S. tax regimes. During her tenure at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP , Chanel obtained a Masters of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from the New York University School of Law. Chanel currently serves as Vice President, Corporate Tax at BlackRock, Inc., an investment mangagement firm. Chanel advises on and provides tax technical support for the company's income tax filing positions, financial statement reporting of taxes, income tax audits, restructurings and acqusitions. Chanel is also actively involved in the company's tax lobbying and incentives efforts. She is a member of the Dartmouth Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
