William B. Lacy started The Lacy Company in April 1988 and handled the President's California campaign that year. Before starting the company, Lacy served as Campaign Director and Vice-Chairman for Strategy and Planning for the Dole for President committee. Lacy resigned as chief campaign strategist for Dole's 1996 presidential campaign shortly after Dole lost the New Hampshire and Delaware primaries. He moved to Olathe Kansas where he runs a family business, the Sophie Mae Candy Company.
