Neil Jacobstein

Neil Jacobstein Co-chairs the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Track at Singularity University on the NASA Research Park campus in Mountain View, California. He served as President of Singularity University from October 2010-2011. His work there focuses on the technical, business, and ethical implications of exponential technologies. Neil became a Reuters Research Fellow in the Digital Vision Program at Stanford University in 2006. He has been a Distinguished Visiting Scholar in Stanford's Media X Program since 2007. He Chaired AAAI’s 17th Innovative Applications of Artificial Intelligence Conference, and has served as a technical consultant on AI research and development projects for: DARPA, NSF, NASA, NIH, EPA, DOE, the U.S. Army and Air Force, GM, Ford, Boeing, Applied Materials, NIST, and other agencies. Jacobstein was CEO of Teknowledge Corporation, a pioneering AI company. He worked as a graduate research intern in Alan Kay’s Learning Research Group at Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), and was a consultant in PARC’s Software Concepts Group. Jacobstein has moderated several Aspen Institute Socrates Programs, and served as co-chair of the Socrates Program Committee. He is deeply interdisciplinary, and has served since 1992 as Chairman of the Institute for Molecular Manufacturing, a 501c3 nanotechnology R&D organization that has provided technical advice to the White House Office of Technology Policy, the National Academy of Sciences, DARPA, the Air Force, Foresight, and many other organizations. Neil has served in a variety of executive and technical advisory roles for industry, NGOs, and government. Neil is a member of the 1999 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.
