Edsel B Ford II

Edsel B. Ford II, the only son of Henry Ford II and a great-grandson of Ford Motor Company founder Henry Ford, is a member of the board of directors of Ford Motor Company. As a consultant to the company, Ford is active in company affairs and corporate dealer relations. Ford's paternal grandfather, Edsel B. Ford, was company president from 1919 to 1943. His late father, Henry Ford II, was president of the company from 1945 to 1960 and chairman from 1960 to 1980. During his 25-year career at Ford Motor Company, from 1974 through 1999, Edsel B. Ford II held a variety of increasingly responsible positions. He was named president and chief operating officer of Ford Motor Credit Company in May 1991 and elected a company vice president in December 1993. Ford is the former chairman of the coard of the Detroit branch of the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank. Ford was chairman of a 41-member commission appointed by Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer to lead Detroit 300, a nonprofit organization created to shape Detroit's yearlong tricentennial celebration in 2001. The organization was responsible for implementing community programs, special events and permanent legacies. Currently, he is chairman of the Detroit 300 Conservancy, the successor organization to Detroit 300. Ford received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Babson College in 1973 and completed the program for management development at the Harvard Business School in 1981.
