Notes Welcome the City of Austin to the ID2020 Alliance! We are thrilled to announce that the City of Austin, Texas has joined the ID2020 Alliance as our newest member and first official government partner. ID2020 ID2020 Follow Sep 10, 2019 · 2 min read ID2020 will be collaborating with the City of Austin, along with the Austin Blockchain Collective, Dell Medical School, and the National Innovation Service, on developing MyPass — a blockchain-enabled digital identity platform for people experiencing homelessness. The MyPass project is funded by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. “Cities lie at the frontline of providing crucial social services to vulnerable populations,” said ID2020’s Executive Director, Dakota Gruener. “This is an impactful space where digital identity can help address major urban challenges, and improve the daily lives of residents. We are so excited to be working with the City’s Office of Innovation on developing their digital identity solution for people experiencing homelessness.” MyPass aims to alleviate challenges faced by these excluded populations by helping them own their identities, and ease access to vital social services. “We’re building with — not for — people living the experience of homelessness and the service providers who engage with them,” says City of Austin Chief Innovation Officer Kerry O’Connor. “We’re working to empower people to own their own data, and be the single source of their own truth to share as they see fit.” ID2020 is excited to bring the City of Austin into the Alliance and work with the MyPass team (hiring here!) on implementing our vision for “good” digital identity that is safe, secure, interoperable, and owned and controlled by the user. The ID2020 Alliance believes strongly in the MyPass mission and is excited to collaborate with the brilliant team at the City of Austin through this program.
