Background
Dr. Carolyn Y. Woo, Ph.D., served as the President and Chief Executive Officer at Catholic Relief Services (CRS) from 2012 to 2016. Dr. Woo joined CRS in January 2012 after a distinguished academic career. From July 1997 to December 2011, she served as Dean at Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame. Prior to the University of Notre Dame, she served as Associate Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Purdue University. Her teaching, research and administrative leadership have been recognized through Best Paper Awards by the Academy of Management, selection as one of Forty Young Leaders of American Academe by Change Magazine (the journal of the American Association for Higher Education), distinguished alumna and honorary alumna by Purdue University and University of Notre Dame, as well as by the conferral of honorary doctorates from Providence College, University of St. Francis, Lewis University, as well as the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Woo was the first female dean to chair the accreditation body for business schools (AACSB: Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and directed its initiative for Peace through Commerce. Dr. Woo serves on the Board of Directors of NiSource Industries, Inc. and Arabesque Partners. She has been an Independent Director of NiSource Inc. since 1998 and Director of Cardinal Health 100, Inc. since 1997. She has been an Independent Director of Aon Plc since 1998. She serves as a Director at Aon Hewitt LLC. She served as Director of Northern Indiana Public Service Company, Inc since 1997. She was Director of Arvin Industries, Inc since 1999. She was Director of St. Joseph Capital Corp. She served as a Director of Circuit City Stores Inc from 2001 to March 11, 2009. From 2004 to 2010, Dr. Woo served on the Board of Directors of Catholic Relief Services. She serves on the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities USA; Aileron Foundation; the Board of Regents, University of Portland; the Board of Governors, University of Notre Dame Australia; Archdiocese of Baltimore Independent Child Abuse Review Board; Executive Council on Development of the Center for Strategic and International Studies; Migration & Refugee Services, U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops; and the International Policy Committee, U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. She also served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Advisory Board, Fuel Up to Play 60 (sponsored by National Football League and the National Dairy Council); helped launch the Principles for Responsible Management Education for the United Nations Global Compact program; and the Diversity Advisory Committee of KPMG. Dr. Woo attended Purdue University, where she received her B.S. in Economics, M.S.I.A. and Ph.D. degrees.
