Douglas V Pope

Douglas ("Doug") V. Pope is the Corporate Secretary of WGL Holdings, Inc. and Washington Gas Light Company. He is also an attorney in the Office of General Counsel. Mr. Pope is responsible for functions of the Corporate Secretary's office, including preparation of documents relating to meetings of the board of directors and board committees, stock transfer matters and some shareholder relations activities. As an attorney in the Office of General Counsel, Mr. Pope concentrates on securities law, finance and general corporate matters. After graduation from law school in 1970, Mr. Pope was an attorney with a railroad company in Baltimore, MD for two years and then an attorney with the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. for four years. He joined Washington Gas as an attorney in 1977. He was elected Assistant Secretary of the Company in 1978 and Corporate Secretary in 1979. Mr. Pope is an adjunct instructor in Commercial Law at the University of Virginia, Division of Continuing Education. He has also taught bar review courses for the Virginia and Pennsylvania bar exams. He has an A.B. degree from Earlham College, a J.D. degree from the University of Maryland School of Law and an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center. Mr. Pope is admitted to legal practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.
