A New York native, Allen P. Cappelli is a practicing attorney from Staten Island. He has served as a board member for Project Hospitality, St. Vincent's Medical Center of Richmond, and president of Staten Island Community Television. He served as vice chairman and land use chairman for Staten Island's Community Board One and as a commissioner on the New York State Charter Commission for Staten Island. Mr. Cappelli served as communications director to Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer from 1998 to 2002 before opening his own law office. From 1994 to 1997, Mr. Cappelli was a member of the New York State Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board, serving as chairman of the board from 1994 to 1995. Mr. Cappelli served as assistant special deputy superintendent to the New York State Department of Insurance from 1988 to 1994, where, among other duties, he handled collective bargaining and labor relations, and as director of the Office of the New York State Ombudsman from 1986 to 1988 after serving as Staten Island's representative from 1983 to 1986.
