Akbar Ghahary

Dr. Akbar Ghahary, an industrialist and executive in the manufacturing sector, is the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Safas Corporation. Dr. Ghahary has also remained an active member of the Iranian-American community as a political advocate. He is the co-founder and current Treasurer of the Iranian American Political Action Committee (IAPAC). He also has served as a member of the Board of Trustees for both IAPAC and PAAIA (Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans). By recognizing the absence of the Iranian American's voice in American politics, Dr. Ghahary has supported and joined campaigns that recognized the importance of our Community. Some of the note-worthy campaigns include John Kerry's Presidential Campaign in 2004; Jon Corzine's campaign for New Jersey Governor in 2005; both the Senatorial campaign in 2006 and the Presidential campaign in 2008 of Hillary Clinton; and most importantly, Barack Obama's successful bid for the Presidency in 2008. Currently, he is active as NY Tri-state finance committee co chair, within the DNC.
