Before joining Kingsbury Partners, Phil Calian was CEO of American Classic Voyages Co., the largest owner and operator of U.S. flag passenger vessels. He led a dramatic turnaround in AMCV's operations and focused the company on growing its core cruise products. In addition, he worked for more than 10 years with Equity Group Investments, Inc., the controlling shareholder of American Classic Voyages Co. Prior to joining American Classic Voyages Co. in 1995, Phil was President and Chief Executive Officer of CFI Industries, Inc., a custom manufacturing company. He has also served as Director of Mergers and Acquisitions for Great American Management and Investments, Inc.; as Vice President of the Merchant Banking Group at Paine Webber, Inc, and as an associate and an analyst at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets. In addition, he has experience working as reporter for The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and The Pittsburgh Press and as a chemist/researcher at Gulf Oil Research and Development Co. Phil is also an ordained deacon in the Presbyterian Church. He is a graduate of Brown University where he obtained a BA in Chemistry (with honors.) He and his wife Jill and their four sons and live in Evanston, IL. Phil is a member of the 2000 class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.
