Dr. Zandman founded Vishay Intertechnology in 1962. Under his leadership, Vishay has become a leading global manufacturer of passive electronic components and semiconductor components. A noted author and innovator, Dr. Zandman has published three textbooks and many scientific papers, and holds 39 patents in the United States and abroad. He has also written Never the Last Journey, an autobiography recounting his journey from Holocaust victim to Chairman and CEO of a high-tech multinational corporation. In receiving the 2001 EIA Medal of Honor, Dr. Zandman will join 50 past recipients of the award, including such notable industry pioneers as David Sarnoff (1952, Chairman and CEO, Radio Corporation of America); Paul V. Galvin (1956, Founder and Chairman, Motorola); David Packard (1974, Co-founder, Hewlett Packard Co.); Sanford McDonnell (1986, Chairman, CEO, and President, McDonnell Douglas Corp.); Norman Augustine (1994, Chairman and CEO, Martin Marietta Corp.); C. Michael Armstrong (1997, Chairman and CEO, Hughes Electronics Corp.); and Richard McGinn (1999, Chairman and CEO, Lucent Technologies).
