Lizbeth S. O'Shaughnessy is vice president, chief legal officer and secretary at Steelcase Inc., the global leader in the office furniture industry. Steelcase delivers a better work experience to its customers by providing products, services and insights into the ways people work. Its portfolio includes architecture, furniture and technology products. Named to this role in July 2007, Lizbeth has global leadership responsibility for all legal services and consultation advice necessary to support the company’s global business and to provide research, review and active involvement in legal matters for various groups within the company. She also has responsibility for import/export customs compliance; corporate environmental performance; and corporate governance as the secretary of the board of directors. Previously, Lizbeth was assistant general counsel and assistant corporate secretary. Appointed assistant general counsel in 2000, she was responsible for providing legal services and consultation advice necessary to support the company's global business, and to research, review and be actively involved in various legal issues, including global antitrust/competition law and distribution matters, and all legal matters for parts of Europe, the Middle East and all of Latin America and Central America. She also had responsibility for corporate governance as the assistant secretary of the nominating and corporate governance committee of the board of directors during 2005 and 2006. Lizbeth earned her juris doctor degree from Indiana University at Bloomington in 1987. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Michigan State University in 1984. Lizbeth is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the American Bar Association.
