Christine Emery joins Chartwell after having served as the Vice President for Investment Policy (IP) at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). Prior to this, Dr. Emery was senior director of institutional relations at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and served as spokesperson and expert commentator for international media outlets on the subjects of U.S. federal government structure and political system. Earlier, Dr. Emery was executive director of the CSIS States of the Union Initiative, where she developed an instructional program to promote better understanding of the global economy for high school students and educators. She served as the North American director for the British-North American Council (BNAC) from 2001 to 2004. From 1986 to 1996, Dr. Emery provided advice and counsel to Washington, D.C., area law firms, establishing Amerisphere Group, Ltd., an international consulting firm. As founder, president, and CEO, she served as adviser to ambassadors from Latin American countries on U.S. foreign policy matters ranging from antiterrorism to natural gas exploration. Dr. Emery's recently published works include Selecting the President’s Inner Cabinet and A Guide to the Benefits, Responsibilities, and Opportunities of Embryonic Stem Cell Research, a handbook for policymakers. She currently serves on the Board of Managers of the Colonial Dames of America and is U.S. liaison for the Society of Queen Ysabel; she is immediate past president of Chapter III of the Colonial Dames of America and of the Inter-American Council; and past president of the National Rehabilitation Hospital Board of Associates. Dr. Emery received her degree from the George Washington University.
