Dr. Cassidy brings to Chartwell a broad knowledge of the practical issues and challenges facing leaders and decision makers in developing effective education systems and quality schools around the world. As the Director of the International Education Group in the Harvard Institute for International Development and the Harvard Graduate School of Education from 1995-2007, he was responsible for the development and management of a portfolio of overseas education development projects and international executive education programs. Over the past 20 years Dr. Cassidy has managed education development projects in Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Malaysia, Jamaica, Ghana, Latvia, Lithuania and Georgia. As the Chair of Harvard’s annual seminars for international education leaders on Improving Quality in Education and on Educational Policy Analysis and Planning he has worked with educators from more than 75 countries. From 1999-2007, Dr. Cassidy taught graduate courses in policy analysis and planning in Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. From 1995-1999 Dr. Cassidy served as an advisor on educational planning, policy analysis and education information system development to UNESCO’s Director of Education for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), in which capacity he worked with ministry officials in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Lebanon. In 1999-2000 Dr. Cassidy he served as the Director of Harvard’s Institutes for Higher Education in the Gulf based in Abu Dhabi. Since 2004 he has served as an advisor to the World Economic Forum’s Global Education Initiative, a pioneering effort to build public-private partnerships to support education reform in developing countries in the Middle East and around the world. Dr. Cassidy regularly consults for the World Bank in which capacity he has worked recently with educators in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Palestine. Since 2005 he has chaired executive development programs on Education Reform in Kuwait for the Middle East Initiative in Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Earlier in his career Dr. Cassidy worked as a teacher and as a director of international education programs for both high school and college students. Dr. Cassidy holds both a Masters and Doctoral Degree from Harvard University in Educational Administration, Planning and Social Policy.
