David C. Dauch joined American Axle & Manufacturing in July 1995 as manager, Sales Administration. He was appointed director, sales - GM Full-Size Truck Programs in May 1996, and was named vice president, Sales & Marketing in August 1997. Dauch also served as vice president, Manufacturing, Driveline Division; senior vice president, Sales, Marketing & Driveline Division; senior vice president, Commercial; and executive vice president, Commercial & Strategic Development. Prior to assuming his current position, Dauch served as executive vice president & COO. He began his automotive career in 1982, as a manufacturing co-op student with the Chrysler Corporation. He continued with Chrysler's summer co-op program until he completed his bachelor's degree. In 1987, Dauch joined Collins & Aikman Products Company, where he served as Sales Manager of Ford Programs, receiving that company's President's Award for leadership and innovation. Dauch also managed the Toyota and Honda accounts for Collins & Aikman. Dauch obtained a bachelor of science degree with a dual major in production /operations and purchasing management from Miami University (Ohio) and a master of business administration from Michigan State University. Dauch earned a football scholarship to Miami University where he played tight end. Presently, he serves on the Miami University Business Advisory Council and the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Michigan. Dauch also served on the Collins & Aikman Board of Directors from 2002 to 2007.
