Robert C. Bickford is a retired attorney and active civic leader. He began his legal career in 1961 and worked at law firms, corporations, and foundations. In 1986 he became associate general counsel at Kidder Peabody & Co. and in 1989 assistant corporation counsel in the Economic Development Division of New York City, from which he retired in 1993. He serves as chair of the Putnam County Board of Ethics (having served as vice chair from 2000-2006); trustee of the Constitution Island Association (since 2008); treasurer and trustee of Mekeel's Corners Chapel Association (since 1999); vice president and director of the Philipstown Depot Theatre Development Corp. (since 1998); treasurer and director of Friends of Fahnestock and Hudson Highlands State Parks (since 2007); and secretary and director of Friends of Philipstown Recreation (since 2011) and director of the Canterbury Choral Society (since 1998). Past affiliations include treasurer and director of the Canterbury Choral Society (1998-2011); trustee of the Constitution Island Association (2008-2010); president and trustee of Building Bridges, Building Boats (1999-2008); trustee of the Putnam County Historical Society & Foundry School Museum (1994-2004, serving as its president from 1996 to 2003); member of Hudson River Greenway Council (2001-2004); and treasurer and vestry member of St. Philip's Church, Garrison, New York (1992-1999). Mr. Bickford graduated from Harvard College in 1956 and from Harvard Law School in 1960.
