John DiFava is Director of Security and Campus Police Services, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was previously Chief of the MIT Police Department. After twenty-seven years of service, Colonel DiFava retired as Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police. There he led a force of twenty-three hundred officers, four hundred civilians, with a budget of $240 million. He then served as Interim Director of Security as the Massachusetts Port Authority, Logan International Airport in Boston. John is an expert in Tactical Operations, Dignitary Protection, Underwater Recovery and Crime Scene Investigation, and is a certified Dive Master and firearms instructor. He is an Adjunct Professor in Criminal Justice at Western New England College, and a frequent lecturer at colleges and universities throughout the eastern seaboard. He attended Harvard University’s JFK School of Government, Senior Executive Management Program, and is a graduate of the FBI’s National Executive Institute.
