Gelband previously held high-level jobs at Lehman Brothers, where he famously warned management about the investment bank’s exposure to real estate-linked assets about a year before the company collapsed under their weight. For a while, it seemed like Gelband might take over for Englander at Millennium one day. But as time passed it became evident that Englander had no plans on going anywhere. He hired other senior managers and formed a trustee group to designate a leader if he ever became physically unable to keep running his firm. Gelband quit Millennium at the start of 2017. Mr. Gelband is a Senior Managing Director and the Global Head of Fixed Income. Mr. Gelband is responsible for overseeing the Fixed Income Business. Prior to joining Millennium, Mr. Gelband worked at Lehman Brothers from 1983 until May 2007, and again from June through October 2008. Mr. Gelband had various trading and management responsibilities over that time including mortgage backed securities, derivatives, head of liquid markets, head of fixed income derivatives in Asia, global head of fixed income derivatives and global head of capital markets. Mr. Gelband was also a member of the Lehman Brothers Management and Executive committees. Mr. Gelband graduated from the University of Georgia, and received a Masters in Business Administration from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Mr. Gelband is a member of the Investment Risk Committee of the General Partner.
