Vicki Bretthauer, an airline industry consultant, formerly DHL Airways’ President and Chief Operating Officer, is a 26 year industry veteran. Her work experience has been in Planning, Marketing, Maintenance, Operations, Finance and Administration. She held operational and administrative positions at United Airlines, Reno Air and American Airlines before joining DHL Airways in June 2001. Her responsibilities have included Maintenance and Engineering, Flight Operations, Crew Resources, Airline Operations, Airport Operations, Safety, Information Technology, Charter Operations, and Security. She also works closely with the Federal Aviation Administration. She was Interim CEO for DHL Airways from August 2002 through March 2003. Currently, she is an independent consultant in transportation resource management. Bretthauer has a BA from Rice University and was Alumni President in 2002-2003 when Rice won the NCAA Baseball Championship! She is also a member of the Council of Overseers for the Jones School of Business. She was a member of the Rice Board of Trustees from 2005-2009 and still sits on the Committee for Resource Development and Public Affairs, the Women’s Athletic Advisory Board and the School of Social Sciences Advisory Committee. She has a Master of Management (MBA) from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University and is a member of the Business Advisory Committee of Northwestern’s Transportation Center. She has also been a member of the Air Transport Association’s Senior Advisory Committee and Board of Directors. Bretthauer participated in Aviation Week’s Maintenance/Repair/ Overhaul (MRO) Conference and sat on the advisory committee for many years. She has been on the boards of Junior Achievement in Reno, NV and Association House of Chicago. She also has been a judge in the Carrot Capital Entrepreneurial Competition and the Rice Alliance’s Business Plan Competition. Bretthauer is married to retired United Airlines’ Captain Neil Bretthauer.
